I know I am running behind in my blog posts. I had so much to write about in this month, but for the past 2 weeks I've been facing problems with my home machine. Unfortunately I haven't been able to pinpoint the faulty component. I know it's a hardware issue as I've tried reinstalling Windows, 5 times with fairly great degree of variance. With SP2 slipstreamed with hotfixes until MS-05-053, SP2 without any hotfixes, Pro & Home (build 2600 & SP2) and Windows 2000 SP4. I even tried with my old faithful 32MB ATi RAGE Card. But the problem just doesn't seem to go away. The fact that the freeze is random is even more annoying, the only case where I was able to successfully replicate the problem is when I visit StudioTwentyEight the flash animation by KoL on top of his page seems to hang the machine when it simulates the page flipping effect. And I could replicate it on each of the 5 times I installed Windows, it happened regardless of which version of Windows, Macromedia Flash I was using and more importantly regardless of the browser; IE,FireFox Opera alike. I realized then that it was time to get a new machine atleast the box part that is.
My soon to be old machine was a Celeron 1GHz, running on an iNTEL 815 chipset board with 512 MB of RAM and was powered by an ATi RADEON 9600 128 MB card. Well I guess it's time I buy a New Year's present to myself ;-).
